there’s nothing wrong with iTunes.. ..except that it doesn’t play Flac format audio files, this made me swap it for Songbird… which i really like, but it’s freezing like crazy… i was so happy with winamp when i was on a regular pc… please recommend me something?
This…if you don’t know what VLC is, VideoLan will help with the google search.
I use iTunes for mp3s, vlc for everything else. VLC plays everything I’ve ever thrown at it.
I was never a fan of iTunes, but I learned that sometimes its not a bad idea to conform when everyone else in the world uses it, it’s integrated into tractor, I need it for my phone, etc. Might as well just use and learn to live with it.
That’s the one big reason I stay away from FLAC, and other non-supported in itunes kinds of files. Not that I don’t know their worth… but I moved from WinAmp on a PC over integrating everything over to iTunes.
I just can’t be bothered to have ANOTHER program in which to deal with stuff in. Serato and iTunes is enough for me.
Aww man, you shouldn’t hate on FLAC, it’s a quality lossless codec that does a great job at what it does. It’s been around for years.
I do get your point though, having another program on your computer just to play a file is a pain. VLC is nice though because it plays video files too. It’s probably the best video player out there in my opinion. I have it on every computer I own.
It doesn’t make a bad audio player either - I use it mostly to listen to my recordings, where I don’t want to import them into iTunes, nor open them in my music editor - just give them a quick once off and then be done with them.
that’s exactly what i do, i use VLC just for my recordings and stuff i’m not going to import to my library.. it would be so nice to have a proper audio player like itunes that would play flac files aswell and that’s what i’m looking for.
