Question about Controller

Question about Controller

I got a really stupid question about DJ Controllers. My little brother wants a dj controller for his birthday. He doesn’t understand much (he has got autism) but he really wants it as gift.
The question is, if I buy for him a dj-tech djm-101 or dj-tech mix-101 he would be able to use for Youtube videos?
For example if he listens a song to youtube and change the volume in dj-controller it will have any effect or its “bound” to the software (Decadence specific) ??

Sorry, for my stupid question but I really don’t understand much of dj hardware.. :disappointed:

Not a stupid question at all.

Simply put, it’s going to be ‘tethered’ (bound) to the specific dj program that is used with the controller.

I’m sure there is software available to control system volumes via the controller, but out of the box, it’s going to be Deckadance specific.

Thanks alot!

Im going to order DJM-101 right now!

That’s a really strange need, you mean playing tracks FROM youtube to mix them??
I don’t think many softwares would allow you to do that without some hassle.
Softwares are meant to play tracks internally (ie: a mp3 or wav file played form a library), externally (a live input, most of the times, an instrument, an external deck, etc..). Now how are you going to going to play a computer audio source coming from youtube?
Also but that may not be relevant to you, you won’t have any control over the transport controls on youtube and on the speed of the tracks (which would be on most cases, the point of mixing tracks together).
