Question about removing overlays

Question about removing overlays

Hi,

Today is a happy day for me because I received both a DJ TT overlay and a VCI 100 in the mail!

Here’s my question. The product information says the overlays are removable. But will they leave any residue at all?

I ask because I wonder if I should test and confirm the VCI 100 is working 100% before I apply the overlay. Normally it wouldnt be an issue but I’m traveling tomorrow and it would be a lot easier for me just to apply the overlay before I get on a flight.

It’s a B-stock VCI, which has a warranty, but if anything is wrong with it I think it would be hard to return if there were any glue residue left on the enclosure.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance, and thanks to DJTT!

I can’t answer you for certain, given I don’t use overlays yet, but I would be very suprised if the glue that is strong enough to give it a good firm and durable hold, wouldn’t leave at least some residue when the overlay is pealed off.

Apparently you can just put the new overlay over the old one!

If its been in place for quite a while, it will leave some residue when removed.

Residue is only left on if the overlay is on for a prolonged peroid of time - so if you discover an issue with your VCI-100 you can easily rip the overlay off without leaving any residue on the device

Not tried taking one off myself yet might have too soon, if i get the new one.
Used to work on car’s & the way we use to take stickers or go faster stripes off of the bodywork, using a hot air gun (Paint stiper gun) but be carefull gets very hot, so i would us a hair dryer on VCI, it softens the glue, then if thier’s any residue use glue & tar remover should do the job

they dont really leave any res-due that cant be easily removed but they are a major pain to take off after a few months once the adhesive has set in nice and good. A hair dryer helps but it requires some serious muscle

Thanks for all the feedback!
