Question about setup

Question about setup

First:
sorry if i write in the wrong forum section.

I’ve been using from 1 years Rekordbox
that is very different from Traktor

I have 2 XDJ700 (No Hid mode with traktor) and a xone 23 with a free ‘record’ exit.

I would like to connect the mixer to traktor for effects by buying a separate one X1mk2. I should buy a Audio 2?

connect a rca - jack cable from the ‘record’ output to the input of the sound card.
Connect it to the PC, configure it and then put the usb of the x1.

I would like to clarify that I occupy the monitor output of the mixer and I am indifferent to send the audio from the mixer to the monitors or from the pc to the monitors.

I attach a photo of the setup I would like to do, leaving the two xdj working normally with rekordbox.

do you think you can do?

You’d be better off buying an external effects box than have that franken-setup. Traktor isn’t really designed for that sort of FX use, much les the fact your audio won’t be affected by anything you do in Traktor with it that way. If you really wanted to use a laptop for effects, I’d get something like the K1/K2, and either run your master out through an audio interface or use the send/return, and run Ableton with an effects rack mapped to the K2. Really, though, at that point, you’ll probably be able to pick up a couple of effects pedals or a Pioneer effects unit for cheaper.

What effects do you want to use?

Do you already have a copy of Traktor? because last time I checked Traktor licence/serial wasn’t included with my X1 mk2.

If not, you should definitely get Traktor Audio 2 for the licence and audio interface. For just effects any controller will serve you well as long as it has some mappable rotaries/knobs so if you are looking in to buying a controller strictly for FX control than maybe check out the Twisted Gratification mapping.

But as Dan already stated here, you’d be better of buying external FX unit with that setup.

Why would you buy another interface, if you already own 2 XDJs?

Especially delay and reverb.

Only for the effects… I was thinking about the RMX1000… But it cost like 1 xdj.

I have a little akai lpd8, i made a mapping for effect on rekorbox. If i want to connect the mixer to ableton i need to go from the send/out to the soundcard and go to the pc?

External fx unit like guitar pedals on send/return? It will work with the xone 23?

The 23 has send/return, I believe. You could buy a delay pedal and reverb pedal from Boss for £200 ish.

I Think that the dry/wet control delenda on the freq know of the mixer… so i don’t know if i get some problem

There are a lot of stereo delay and reverb pedals around that a lot of people have luck with.

If you’re willing to put up with a 19" rack unit, Lexicon has a couple for around $200 that are awesome.

I’d make sure the pedals are stereo, though.

I thought that was a given, but it’s definitely worth making sure.

These should all be stereo.

I really wish the MXR Carbon Copy Delay was stereo. The Deluxe will output stereo, but not take a stereo input. I always liked it on guitar (and now can’t find mine).

I would also say to be careful about what controls are on the effects unit. The xone:23 doesn’t have any real controls for it’s loop, just on or off. IAlso, be careful about the quality. You’re basically running your whole sound through it, and I’ve definitely heard some horrible pedals that sound okay on guitar when it’s buried in a band but would sound horrible over a whole mix. Unfortunately, unless you just use stuff other people use, it might be surprising.

In the end, suppose, in order to have 2 stereo pedals anyway, I would have to connect them (this is already losing quality) and then to the mixer. In the end how costs and sound quality would not be better to connect the mixer to ableton and use a controller? I ask you, all you are much more experienced.

Chaining pedals is quite normal. I wouldn’t worry about “losing quality”. You’re only overlaying the effects signal over your original audio, anyway.

FYI, I run a Boss DD-7 and Biyang Tri-reverb RV-10 in a chain on a Xone:92.

I wouldn’t worry too much about chaining them.

Crappy sounding pedals are more the exception than the rule, but there are some. Let your ears be the judget, and ideally get stuff where you can return it in case you get something you don’t like.

As for “better”, that’s definitely possible. It’s also more expensive. And more capable. But it requires a computer.

The Biyang Tri-reverb RV-10 is good? I was looking yesterday on Amazon! The Price is good, but i don’t know if it’s worth it,also because I play the piano and the violin, but with the guitars I’ve never had to do and all the video demonstration (of course) they do them only on guitars…
to connect them just a stereo jack cable in “in” and connect it to other pedals in “out”? I did not understand this well

I think I will try to use the pedals very soon starting with the Biyang Tri Reverb RV-10 for reverb
