Question when syncing two macs (Ethernet)

Question when syncing two macs (Ethernet)

Ok so I want to sync 2 traktors over LAN with an ethernet cable (my mate doesn’t have anything with a midi in/out port).

I have been playing around with the “Audio Midi Setup” in OSX to get TouchOSC working so I understand how to set the session up.

However my question is, in order to connect to my iPhone I have to open TouchOSC on the phone in order for it to pop up in the “directory” so I can successfully connect in the network midi set up page.

If I simply connect our Macs via an ethernet will both laptops simply appear in that directory so we can both connect to each other?

Something is telling me it won’t be that simple.

Has any body got any tips/experiences/knowledge to share?

Cheers.

I would use firewire. That’s the easiest route IMO. Then probably USB.

Ethernet requires a few tricks but is doable.

Using the audio midi settings in osx? Or do you need extra software to send a midi clock over FireWire?

anyone?

This guide has been a real help for me. Shouldn’t be too difficult:
