Quick iTunes import help…

See when you import tracks off a cd or whatever into iTunes…ive noticed it does it threw acc but there is an option to change it to wav and what not?

Since I’ve been importing various tunes in…am I importing correctly as Im wanting to have the best sound quality of whatever track is there as it doesn’t give more info than it does with the acc 256kps.

Any insight would be appreciated

For the best quality import as Wav 16bit 44kHz. I use Apple Lossless encoder though as the file sizes are much smaller.

Im a bit stupid when it comes to this, is that just a setting that ya’d change in iTunes for that?

Yup, open preferences, near the bottom it says When You Insert a CD: and next to that is Import Settings.

Excellent thanks…I always thought with audio that you would want the file size to be as big and not small tho as more information better the sound?

Is there any drawbacks to using the apple lossless encoder tho?

Yeah for sure, but i like to find a balance between sound quality and file size so my drive isnt always full. Apple lossless sounds fine to me and the name implies that it compresses w/o loosing any or much info. Im not an expert so dont know if that true but as i said they sound fine to me!

Lossless compression does not result in any loss of quality. When decompressed to be played the audio stream it will sound identical to the uncompressed audio, because it is identical.
