quick question on mastering?

when getting a track mastered by someone, when its all mixed down would you just send them a wav/aiff of the whole track expoorted?

Yes. Here’s the guidelines I recommend for people sending me tracks for mastering, most mastering engineers will likely want songs similar:

it depends on the style of mastering… most are fine with a wav 16/24 44.1/48 etc… some may want a separate left and a right channel. I have even seen some mastering engineers who like your sections rendered out (bass, leads, pads, drums etc…). but usually a single wav is enough
