Quick question.

Quick TT question.

Ok guys, So i’m kinda strapped for cash but i badly want to get a set of turntables for some reason.

I’ve done my research and i’ve been told technics or str8-150’s.

But i don’t have the dosh for a set of either. Would a set of stanton t-62’s be ok for just mixing on ? No scratching or turntablism.

I’m obviously respecting your lust for turntables, but just ask yourself the question - if you’re not scratch or turtabilism why go for turntables over CD players?

I’ll own up to something i’m ashamed of. I am only 17, and started off on cdj’s. Because i was young and stupid, And never really got to learn dj’ing via vinyls.

Hence why i want to get TT’s and learn vinyls then get timecode after a while.

Guess that’s justified!

For now you could try to cover up the screen on your CDJs and try mixing like that? It would emulate the learning aspect of TT’s and then when you have the cash you could buy some used technics. I know the GC near me are selling two for 700 in really good conditions so they aren’t that expensive used.

I just wouldn’t recommend settling for “good enough” because you won’t be satisfied and you’ll keep wanting to upgrade your equipment. Save up a bit more and grab yourself the industry standard and you’ll never need to upgrade.

I don’t have the cdj’s anymore, they had to be sold to fund a few things, and whatever production equipment i bought. I just use an X1 and uc 33-e for dj’ing at the minute. :disappointed:

Wow, thats an impressive rant.

to answer the question: i’d recommend the numark tt200 over the t.62 for a new, entry level turntable. Its a fine entry level turntable with enough torque to actually scratch. If your just getting into vinyl djing, and want to muck about in your bedroom I think its silly how adamant everyone is about getting a workhorse like the 1200 or str8-150.

Thanx sardu, I’ll look into them.

I just picked up a pair of Numark TTXs + mixer + carts/needles for $250 on CL. Had 1210s for more than a decade but rate these Numarks highly. I have a couple of other friends who are using the TTX decks and love them too.

DISCLAIMER: I mix like a 6 week old dish of baked wasps these days.

+1 on the Numark tt200s. I’ve got a pair I play with occasionally and they do the job just fine.

stanton T.80.. you will probably be able to find a used pair around $200-300..
WAY better than the T.62

Thanx for all the input guys.

Anyone know anything about the American Audio TTD - 2400 ? (I found a good deal on a set and a mixer with a lot of vinyls too)

I just sold technics 1200s and picked up a set o pdx 2000s cheap bc I can do more with them in traktor mix-wise BUT nothing is more solid or as consistant as the 1200s… I eventually will get the M5Gs back but for now the pdx2000s are nice and in my opinion better then ttx model numark…I’ve been on vinyl forever

I may even be willing to let these pdx go for the right offer…I flip technics for profit…let me know I interested pm with offer…pdx set in like new condition…I’ve changed the leds in the target light too
