Really confused about getting my pair of X1’s mapped and working correctly?

Im new to Traktor, but been DJ’ing since Ii bought my mk2 1210’s new. You can see my set-up below.
I like to use a mixture of vinyl & timecode vinyl. Now I am bringing the X1’s into the mix.
What is the recommended best way to have the X1’s setup? I thought the left X1 would control deck a and deck c (below) and the right X1 control b and d? So I can choose if I want to mix using vinyl or just do via the X1.
Is this the “standard” way to set-up?
When I have plugged both in they seem to be synced. So the right hand part of the X1 controls deck a and then the left doesn’t do anything? So I can mix out of the X1 into timecode and back, but not between X1’s if that makes sense.
Any help or links to tutorials would be great? I assumed it would work out of the box and then you could customise once you knew what worked best for you.
