Stockholm, Sweden (May 2, 2010) – ReBirth, the software application that started a sea change in the 90’s with soft-synths in music creation, can be now carried in anyone’s pocket.
[See video here: rebirthapp.com <http.www.rebirthapp.com> ]. Propellerhead Software today announces the immediate availability of ReBirth for Apple’s iPhone & iPod Touch. This is the first time a leading music tool developer has brought a complete professional desktop music application from the personal computer to the mobile world. ReBirth is a true reproduction of the Propellerhead’s acclaimed music-making software from 1997 for the iPhone.

Combine these with audio effects units, fully featured pattern sequencers and a quick-acting, scalable iPhone interface and users will soon be making techno on the train, trance on the tram or beats on the bus.

About the original ReBirth RB-338
With the release ReBirth RB-338 in 1997 Propellerhead pioneered a new era of music making by realistically emulating historic hardware synthesizers and drum machines in software on personal computers. For the first time, users could get the actual sound of those vintage analog devices without hunting down, paying exorbitant prices for and having the headaches of maintaining classic gear. Led by Propellerhead Software, this “virtual instrument” concept, seemingly impossible at the time, started a trend to the point that it now is commonplace in music software. This is huge. More iPhone Propellarheads products to come I’m sure… I want Reason on my phone!

just tried getting rebirth to work on my laptop (forgot i even had a disc), doesn’t seem to like win7, tried all the different compatibility modes and still ‘no’

i’m loving this…haven’t been able to concentrate at work all day

OH NO!! Just wait for Ms. Viral Marketing to get hold of two copies on her iPads, it will be game over for the rest of us. LOL

Downloading as we speak! Well, now I know what I’ll be doing for most of the day.

Thanks Bento, Phil.

Edit: They should have made this an iPad app just for the screen size! Just getting it up and finding my way around (never touched Rebirth before, it’s quite different to Reason. You can’t see the wires on the back, LOL)

Well, if It goes on iPhone, it should also go on iPad, if you ask me.

It works fine on the iPad. Its just that when you blow it up to full screen (otherwise I would just use it on my Touch) the resolution is pretty cruddy.

Phil.

Dammit, now i want an iphone.

if it’s just for that app, you might as well chack out the Rebirth Museum, they’ve got it as a download on there, but no product support etc…

ok, it does work on 7, i was being a bit thick.

what was happening, was that running a benchmark test to check my laptop can run it, it would close and the help center would pop up about something to do with not being able to open the help file for rebirth.
didn’t read it properly til 5 mins ago.

turns out that as the help stuff for rebirth was written back in the days of Windows Help (winhlp32.exe) and that was taken out in vista onwards, it can’t recognise the help files; in this case the getting started stuff, and as it couldn’t open them, the program was closing.

go here to obtain the winhlp32.exe update for vista/7 to run rebirth on those systems.

I have rebirth on my pc, and it’s one of my favorite toys for just jamming around. Now, if i get an iphone, i can jam anywhere. I wonder if you can export your songs to a pc???

(slightly wandering off topic)
is the pc one midi mappable? never really played with it that much when i first got hold of it, no idea why.

i’m thinking of using an lpd8 to control it behind traktor, 8 pads/knobs per unit should be workable in a ‘tool’ kind of way? assuming it can be synced with traktors clock?

It has midi i/o, but it’s lacking a nice smooth mapping feature like ableton. But with a little bit more time setting up it works fine.

i know what my next project is then

Rebirth on iphone would be perfect for this guy

I almost fell over laughing. That’s one of my favorite commercials ever.

Just tried to instal it, but there is no Classic support in OSX 10.6! Any ideas?

Phil.

not with macs, sorry.

Quit being trendy and buy a pc…
Just messing with you man After my current laptop gets outdated, i’m going mac all the way.
