After a lot of thoughts on controllers vs. CDJ’s vs. stand alone, I finally decided for the XDJ Aero.
However, now I will need two active speakers (again, just for mixing purposes).
I already had a look at some of the active monitors out there (Adam A7x, Yamaha HS 8 or the Pioneer S-DJ08 ..)
I am not sure at all, if those kind of ‘studio monitors’ oversize my needs. Again, it’s really just for playing some tracks at home or running on a small party.
What do you recommend? Budget is not an issue. Thanks!
I have a pair myself and the sound quality is extremely good for the price and crank loud enough for a small backyard party (as long as your not after earth shattering bass) plus having one passive speaker and one active free’s up a spot on your power board which I’ve found handy.
If you’re after a bigger speaker for parties an 8 inch might be a better option like Rockit 8’s or the Pioneer S-DJ08 although If you’re cranking them loud regularly and throwing parties I would suggest maybe smaller PA style speakers.
Just remember when you start paying more for active ‘monitors’ you are paying for a flat true sound.
Monitors are more like tools for production rather than a ‘fun’ good sounding speaker which is what you want for djing. The Pioneer and Rockit’s I recommended are both monitors but from my experience sound great for djing the Pioneer have a switch-able eq function that lets you dial in some more bass or high’s or mute the eq to get a flat sound which sounds like a great feature to me
