Recording in Reason?
Hey guys
So, according to this crazy website it seems Propellerheads is releasing a new software to record, and then integrate directly into Reason.
YAY!
Yeah, so, ![]()

Yea I just heard the news but have not checked the videos yet. Hopefully it’s as stable as Reason!
I agree. I know Reason doesn’t accept VST support, but I really enjoy their interface and set up. Maybe this Record will accept VSTs…
Nope Record doesnt host VST’s
Yeah, just saw that. Oh well, still good progress… especially when combined with ReWire
I still use ReDrum for programming Battery drums.
I got really excited when I read that. BUT, I’m not to sure on the interface. I’ll have to look more into when it comes out. BTW I am a reason user for 3-4 years. ![]()
I’ve been off the boat for around a year or two now… but I’ve been getting the itch to produce, just need to get my room to the point of work-flow and I’ll be golden
Supposedly, they wanted to recreate a digital version of the old SSL mix table.
Strange thing though. To my opiinion, you don’t use (older) SSL tables for electronic music, you use them for instrument recording mixes.
But than again, that’s just me. ![]()
If you own or have access to an SSL, believe me, you’ll use it
even for electronic music…
But anyway… it’s maybe because there’s already Reason for electronic music that Record recreate this SSL, it’s more for recording than producing only electronic music… the video demonstrate it pretty weel I think…
That’s my opinion… ![]()
Yeah…I dunno. It’s really hard to compete with Live. With more people wanting the ability to bring the same setup they use to record/make music with them live, it seems impractical, especially in comparison to ableton.
I used to be a biiig proponent of reason until I got heavy into Ableton., but who knows. We’ll see where Record takes things.
I dont have any experience with that mixing board but i am very much inclined to agree with minimalmintek here ! haha
Personally i was never much of a Reason fan but i can see the merrit of this program, it certainly has its little own niche in the market.
There are probably a few of you scratching their heads wondering why it doesnt have VST support. VSTS create more latency than propritory effects thats are built hosts. Especially when you are doing recording you want as little latency as possible, however you still want to be able to play with and apply effects as you play live as opposed to playing something in then applying effects with it afterwards. This is actually the same reason why Traktor will never have VST effects as using onboard effects your able to achieve much lower latencys(not to mention increased stability).
Dude, current projects I run with Ableton Live8 are rendered through a big ass SSL AWS900+ mixing console. ![]()
Still, even the operator of the SSL says, SSL is not the best for electronic music.
For Electronic music, if I had the opportunity, I would still go for a Digidesign Icon mixing console:
reason record hell yeah i saw that too
