Remapping X1 Mk2 to control Decks A & D

It makes sense if you spend more time looking at your screen than at your mixer and sound sources, but I dont. Its simpler for me to know that the top left Deck always shows Deck A, than to remember its actually Deck C in the heat of the mix, and then have to remember that the Fader on Channel A controls Deck C, which is different than the physical layout.

Every single overhead video of Pro DJs ive seen uses ABCD, so Im not sure what the ‘rest of us’ you are referring to. But these videos most often feature the DJ working sound sources and mixers, with laptops off to the side, if used at all.

Lols, no. I want my mixer channels to correspond with sound sources.

I’m having a hard time finding any overhead videos using Traktor with 4 physical decks, let alone ones which actually show the ABCD layout being used internally, so if you have any links I’d love to see them. I’m also unable to assign my X1 MK1 to deck B+C, I doubt the MK2 allows you to do that as you claim, but I don’t have one to test with. Either way it’s clearly a personal preference and we’re not going to convince you.

Im starting to wonder if anyone reads posts.

I never said overhead videos of Traktor mixes, I said overhead videos of mixes featuring the ABCD layout of sources and mixer, like every mix on DJsounds etc.

I want Traktor to correspond to my non Traktor layout, not the other way around.

And it appears I was incorrect about the X1 being able to select B &C.

Anyway, Ive solved this by adding another X1, as i posted upthread.

Any chance you can post a photo of your setup?

Thanks.

Imagine ABCD with AD being turntables and BC being CDJs, this is a very common and its also a post about a mapping issue.

So is everything in on big line across a desk or are your decks and mixer on the desk and your CDJ’s on an angle above and in front of the mixer? Where are your X1’s in the mix?

There are many ways to setup gear and in order to understand your logic I like to know the layout of your setup and therefor put myself in your shoes.

Sorry if asking for a photo is too hard.

Its not hard, its just not relevant or worth the time when im asking specifically about Traktor mapping.

Advice on traktor mapping so far in this thread:

buy phono preamp
buy $3000 mixer
Change hardware layout

Stewe already let me know that it cant be done so this thread is pretty much done too.

Ive much appreciated all input, even if i sound like a wiseass.
