Residency was Cancelled, but is back up again!
head promoter started pulling some really shady stuff (improper permits, not wanting to pay out, raising cover charge to $20 on a wed night, etc etc) so the other residents and I walked away.

The weak link in many many clubs is the promoter.
The DJ usually knows his shit. The manager usually knows his shit.
The Promoter is often a “get rich quick dickhead” with no business knowledge who thinks he/she can screw people and not put the money back into the clubnite.
Ive walked out on a club nite before and its something you do after thinking long on hard so massive respect Damien.

good on you.. i cancelled on a gig a few weeks ago because I got a bad feeling about the promoter. Turned out my hunch was true and the guy was a snake. Those kind of headaches are never worth it, best to cut your losses the instant your gut tells you something is fishy.
More power to you brother man, hopefully he’ll get what’s coming to him and you’ll be back there soon enough
