Resident Advisor-- the interwebs’s premier community and forum for electronic music(ians) of all creeds-- launched a new video series yesterday. Entitled “Real Scenes,” the series takes a similar tack akin to the troubadour techno documentary, Speaking In Code, exploring “the musical, cultural and creative climate within electronic music’s key destinations” and “seeking out the essence of what gives these hyper-local scenes a truly global resonance.” First stop on the map is Bristol, England, where Peverelist, Hyetal and Tectonic Records’ Pinch are all featured, repping the city and its forward-facing take on dubstep. Tracklisting is in the credits. --Daniel Gottlieb, Altered Zones
Ahhh, Lakota - what a wonderful dive that place it. The building should’vebeen condemned years ago, but it does have some epic nights there (and a fuckload of psytrance, but you can’t have it all …)
edit: thinking of lakota also reminded me of “the hub” in bath… that place was awesome and almost a home from home to me. shame it got shut down due to noise pollution
I hate it when that kind of thing happens - successful club/bar is there for years, property developer move in to renovate stuff nearby, new residents complain about the noise, club/bar gets shut down.
