I’ve heard they pay health/dental, room/board, food, flight, passport and roughly $450 dollars a month.
Pay is kinda low, since I would still have to send my girlfriend rent money in California bc I live with her. so I would end up with $100 a month left for myself.
I think I might do it tho lol..
seems like a good opportunity, even if I only get one day off a week.
I could always put it on a resume’ as tour/residency right?
I haven’t heard anything, but working purely for board and food doesn’t seem right.
If you’re DJing 6 nights a week, call it 24 days a month in exchange for $450 that is ridiculous. It costs them essentially nothing to feed and cover your room and board and throw you into their health policy. It literally costs them nothing, you would just be living in a room or dorm that would otherwise be vacant and eating food that would otherwise go to waste, and being thrown on their plan is negligible.
Does DJing for $20 a day six days a week sound right to you?
if i had no real responsibilites (financial or otherwise) and wanted to, basically, go party and whatnot for a few months and get slightly compensated, it might be good just for the experience.
you can always stop working there when you feel like it? its called quitting.
theres no escape from being an indentured servant, as someone OWNS all your property, you just work it for them and get to live there. you technically own nothing.
It’s obviously an exaggeration, but my point is that you are essentially working in exchange for a place to stay with no chance to get ahead and are being grossly underpaid for your skills and time.
Some people might be ok with that I guess but I have a hard time with it since it undervalues a DJs work.
we’ll see lol
for some reason I feel that I can add it to my resume’ and it be impressive.
here’s my current situation:
no job, just trying to dj as much as possible.
not going to school.
looking to play club type gigs as much as possible.
barely make $450 a month right now as it is.
never been anywhere by myself, never been on a vacation to somewhere other than the ok parts of Mexico.
Just watch out for the GF, if you’re really in to her then it may not be the best idea, but you have to weigh the sides yourself. Personally if I was in this situation, I am pretty sure i’d do it.
Seems like you have your priorities all out of whack in my opinion. No club manager/promoter is going to see that on your resume and think it’s “impressive” mainly because you didn’t have to do any promotions or get people to come down.
ANYONE can do this gig, so don’t expect it to help you much once you decided to quite.
If anything, look for a job bartending/barbacking (depending on your experience). You’ll still be out networking, you’ll be in the clubs/bars and you should easily make $450 over a weekend with hourly and tips.
