Reverse Engineering - Mapping

I am currently trying to take apart someone else’s mapping for a Numark Total Control to rebuild it with a few tweaks and mainly 4 deck support. Is there any good programs for mac’s that would allow me to get a print out of all the current inputs in the mapping? Does anyone have any advice or tricks that have done something like this. Anything I should watch out for. Like does the order in which I input each command effect modifiers and things like that. Any advice would be great I can’t wait to get this baby out the door and share it with everyone I know a few people on here use TC’s and I hope this help everyone. Thanks.

traktor tsi viewer mate. free on the traktor bible site i think.

thats it  too lazy to find links without coffee dowm here.

Yeah last time I tried to import this TSI into that program it didn’t work. I will try again as I have made a lot of changes since that version of it thanks y’all.

I don’t think it works with new tsi’s. Has to do with something changed in Traktor.

That’s what I thought if anyone has any other options for getting some kind of print out for the TSI files.

There are no options - you can’t print one out.
The order of commands doesn’t effect modifiers etc.

You can maybe take screen shots of the controller manager and print those out.

Thankyou lethal and photojojo I may just do that take screens shots then edit them together would take a little bit but allow me to fix some bugs a lot better. Thanks

I always wished the mapping editor was a little better. Or at least had a full screen mode…

Yeah the ability to adjust midi mappings in a separate editor would be really welcome. Editing midi mappings is terrible in traktor pro. I love all the options you have but doing it all in that small inflexible window is a huge pain in the ass. We need sort options, we need the ability to highlight more than one item in the list at a time and change them, we need an “undo” function, and more. It’s probably my biggest complaint with traktor currently.

You can sort in the controller mappings section in traktor, it works the same way as your traktor playlists. Just select the tab and it will sort alphabetically. Also you can highlight more than one item at a time by just holding down on ctrl, which is pretty much the standard for alot of programs.

All I want is a bigger window. I wanna be able to see the comments and the Modifier boxes. I wanna be able to resize it and not have to scroll so much. What would really help is a simple print button.

TSI viewer is OSX only and works on Traktor Pro up to 1.2 im afraid.
No plans at the moment to update it as i know of.

We need more sort options I should have said. I’m well aware you can sort some of the columns by clicking on the category. But even this is weird – try sort by Mapped to, and then edit – you have to scroll up and down to keep track of what you’re doing. As for highlighting more than one item at a time, maybe it’s because I’m on a Mac, but holding down ctl (or command-, which is normal on a Mac) does nothing. When you highlight more than one item at a time, can you actually edit them at once? So for example I want to highlight five effects related items and change for all of them “Device Target” to “FX Unit 2”, this is now possible? If not, we’re not there yet.

pen + paper

There are a lot of problems with it and we can all hope they have addressed at least some of these in the next build with either 1.2.7 or S4 whenever it is released without the hardware bundle. As for now I have taken a SS of every mapping which was a lot easier than I thought it was. I never knew Mac’s had the Cmd+Shift+4 = Take a Screenshot of my Cropped area. It helped a lot now I’m aligning all of them in Photoshop and gonna make a nice print out of them. After that I plan on doing a lot of Pen + Paper work redoing a lot of the commands trying to make things work smoother and putting notes into every command that way at the very least I will be able to change it with ease. Thanks for all the ideas this has all really helped and motivated me to get this project done as it has been in my head for weeks now just no time/motivation to it.

This is the final product if anyone cares to see of the cropping of the images it will help me at least by being able to print it out and going thru and taking notes on what everything is for one and what needs to be added/deleted to make it all work. I hope to add at least some features from either the Midifighters Deckalized mapping and/or some of the features from VCI-100. The VCI-100 features will take a lot more time and a lot of coding to get the layering right and I may just mess around with it and never release it. The only thing that is 100% planned to be released for everyone is an updated mapping with 4 decks that are switchable very easily. Making it very easy to drop in one shots or loops whenever you need and to go right back to you 2 deck mapping with very little effort. Wish me luck I will start a new post on this as this has gone way off topic but thanks to everyone for your help in all of this.

I’m sorry this got resized to an unreadable format.

Not being able to expand the mapping window has pissed me off for years. when they gonna sort that, geez
