RIP Whitney Houston

her best quote … :26

Sadly I still cannot flip my I wanna Dance with Somebody 12’’ on Discogs for more than 53 cents.

True story.

I did a Top40/Open Format gig tonite (400 people mainly 20s and 30s age group) and I ended on that track in tribute. When down a treat.

Say what you want about her but she was a modern legend.

Nothing like describing a record played to memorialize someone’s passing and following it with “went down a treat” I am booking you for my funeral.

They stuck him in the ground, I dropped some Buck’s Fizz - right old knees up.

To be honest I dont think half the people there knew what the fuck i was on about when i said “this ones dedicated to Whitney Houston” as the news was only just filtering out.

Some people will have got home, turned the TV on and thought “ah thats what he was on about”

I’d have known Karl, I’d have known…

That the only was is up!

Hold on, that’s Yazz.

Certainly, no doubt about that! No disrespect intended to a pop icon. IWDWS still slays almost any floor for me, and will continue to do so for a long time.

Just making a friendly jab at the expense of the 20 trillion copies pressed of the 1987 Arista IWDWS(WLM) 12’'. I have one of them sitting in my main shelf:smiley:.

My first thought when the RIP’s started showing up on facebook was “I wonder if that record would be worth anything now.” It’s very insensitive considering someone with her vocal fortitude is a once-per-generation occurrence, but god damn are there a lot of copies of that record. Everyone I know has one.

As well they should. The Queen (of pop for a while before scandal ruined her reputation) is dead. God save the Queen (of pop for a while before scandal ruined her reputation).

R.I.P Whitney…dont really cared about her past reputation, still this is one of the best songs of her..

Even though I wasn’t a huge fan, it’s always a shame to see a big star go down this way. :disappointed:

Just found out based on this thread. Massive shock. My mum was a huge fan. I must have seen bodyguard a million times!! Don’t care what she’s done, 48 is no age for anyone to die.

Always reminds me of hearing Sasha do the acapella:

She did do a lot of drugs tho - just saying

RIP Whitney Houston…selling 170 million records in the pre digital era is a testament to her talent…

I just feel bad for her kids.

Talented person who made poor life decisions. Can’t say I didn’t see it coming. I wasn’t surprised when I first heard the news, but I was hoping that it would have never been the case.

And another one bites the dust.

+1
“I want to dance with somebody” will probably go No’1 the world over again now and sell god knows how many digital copies.

I wonder what the comparison to vinyl and digital copies of sales will be, just from an industry point of view it an interesting study.

who’s got descent remixes?

forget what I asked
