ripping audio from DVDs and Youtube with a PC?

I want to rip audio from a couple of DVDs and maybe from youtube but I am a Windows 7 user. Everything people are suggesting to me has been Mac only or fairly useless on a PC. the easier the better as Im not very tech savy:smiley:

Audacity (free software). Use “stereo mix” (it’s sometimes called “What U Hear”) as input, it will record anything you would hear on speakers. Hit record. Done.

Thanks i will give that one a go now.

dirpy.com…that lets you rip YouTube vids to audio

It’s not a good idea. Youtube isn’t known for it’s audio quality…

I’ve pulled samples from youtube before, search “youtube to MP3” on google. You will get sites that you input the video website, and it converts the audio for you.

128k audio from YouTube is not exactly anything usable for mixes or playing for people. Assume most know that.

I’m assuming you’re sampling, not just stealing tracks.

You can also run an audio output to an audio input and record it. You can always do that regardless of the source.

Hence my message about Audacity and not some bizarre-quality-wise-untrustable tier website allowing to download from YouTube and stuff.
