I’ve been getting used to mixing again over the past 3-4 months, and there has been one thing that has irked me, even my wife recognized it. It seems any time that I have been scratching it seems that it’s always 1/4-1/2 second off.
Now I come from vinyl, but it has been over 13 years since I touched a SL1200. However I remember my experience with scratching on that seemed to be far more “accurate” for a better lack of term.
Am I just still that rusty that I am off? Has anyone transitioned from vinyl to jogs and experience what I am experiencing?
hmm thats stragne did u add a custom mapping or something?
the S2’s jog release on the native mapping is really awesome, if you add a custom mapping (eg. the DJTT S2 mapping) it might not be in NHL mode and the jog response might not be as good
Is it my mapping? its in nhl and is the same as the standard one with scratching. Have a look at the latency in audio setup, get it as low as possible. If it is my mapping, then that is the cause, or maybe sync and quantise are on? they affect scratching to
You have latency to deal with when you scratch on the S2 as opposed to an external mixer. I set mine as low as possible, basically a lil before I start having audio issues because it’s too low. I don’t do heavy scratching when I use my S4 as a mixer, but when I do end up doing a little, I can feel and hear the difference big time when my latency is set even just a lil bit higher (like less than a 1 ms). Check what yours is at, I have mine at 4.7ms overall
