S4 Not Working with HP-DV7 & Windows 7

I recently purchased a new Kontrol S4. I hooked it up to my relatively new HP Pavilion dv7-6163us laptop with Windows 7 (64bit).

After installing the Traktor Pro 2 software and running all the updates using the NI service center, I am unable to get the S4 to properly work. I have followed all the NI Windows 7 Tuning Tips for audio processing (http://www.native-instruments.com/kn...dio+processing).

I used the wizard to setup my S4 and have left all the default settings intact. I am able to load tracks to my decks, but when I press the PLAY button, it simply flashes the play button on the software & the song doesn’t play. I am also unable to play a track manually using the software.

My best guess is that it has to do with the audio driver. The HP comes with Beats Audio, but its sound card doesn’t use ASIO drivers. I downloaded the ASIO4ALL, as recommended by NI, and was able to resolve the issue with the tracks not playing, but I get no sound out of my S4 (or my laptop). If I hook-up my headphones to the headphone jack, I also get no sound.

Am I doing something wrong with my setup?

Any ones help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a little older version of the same laptop. I dont have the beats audio I use the altec lansing on my machine. I had a issue like that when I tryed to install a shitty midi controller about a year ago. what I ended up doing was uninstalling everything from NI, but after doing that I went into my program files and docs and deleted everything NI off before reinstalling. I had ended up installing to many .tsi files or something like that.

I have no idea if that is what your problem is, also have you made sure your plugging into a usb2.0?

If you go to
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings
in your computer you can click “change advanced power settings” and stop your usb ports from ever sleeping also. I found this to help a lot when plugging and unplugging equipment.

Also try right clicking your speaker icon in the lower right corner, then click on playback devices, here you should see a list of devices your computer recognizes if you don’t see your S4 there I’d try deleting and reinstalling you drivers like the above poster mentioned.

You have definitely installed the Kontrol S4 driver right?
