S4 or alternative?
I was thinking of getting an X1 but my local music shop has a floor model S4 for near $300 off. Currently I have a number of midi controllers I can use with Traktor (trying out demo at the moment) and a Scarlett 2i4. Eventually I was planning on getting an X1, then another down the road, perhaps an F1, as well as an Audio 10. The S4 at $550 is tempting though. My considerations are I herd an external soundcard will be better than the internal one as well as having balanced outputs, eventually I’ll be looking at running Ableton + Traktor, the features of the X1 seem pretty slick, I’m not looking at scratching so much, and then there is size considerations for using what equipment I choose in a club.
At any rate, I suppose 2 X1s and an Audio 6 when I need it wouldn’t be too different in price than the S4 I’m looking at, about $100 more that way. I’m a bout 50/50 on either option. the S4 may be cheaper in the long run though again I have plenty of midi controllers and a single X1 + my controller and a Audio 6 or 10 would be cheaper. I have no hardware mixer.
