S4 poppin,clicking and freezing

hi guys, jus got my s4 and it pops,crackles and freezes every 5 minutes!ugh, i’ve read this is an issue with windows,any suggestions?
my setup is 32bit XP SP3 on an Intel core 2 duo cpu @ 2.00 ghz with 3.5 gb ram.should i contact NI? Have they released a fix for this yet?

No, there is no “fix” yet. Although, there seems to be something wrong with the Windows driver for S4, many of the problems in Windows are actually caused by the configuration of the system itself. Before you do anything else, you should try the things listed at the link below. If none of that helps then contact NI technical support and/or wait for the driver update.

thx man, i had tried sum of these fixes,going to run a script i heard of tonight and see how it works, ive read positive results.

Do the config stuff first then try the script. Let us know how you get on.

Audio 2,4 or 8

What setting should I choose? Audio 2,4 or 8 DJ? Why are there 3 choices? Should I choose them all?

if you are referring to the S4 install, none of them. Select the s4 on the following screen.

Aha!.. Thx Smitty, my first install I choose audio 4 DJ. I’m hopin it’s why I had issues. I’ll keep you posted

I think the main thing to do, if you did not do this yet, is to reinstall your windows, or a new partition with win on. This one only for dj use:slight_smile: but be aware if you already got 1 c drive and 1 d: drive, (2 partitions on one hd) then you cant make another partition with win on:disappointed:
