I’m pretty sure now that most problems people experience are due to messy machines - after finally getting my s4 i plugged it into my comparatively ‘low end’ dell notebook:
XPpro 2ghz 2gb ram
I have played on it for about 4 hours using 2 decks and samples plus effects and also left it on looping tracks between playing for about 12 hours.
Not a hint of a dropout
Fresh format - no bloatware - no antivirus = win for me so far
p.s. wireless on the whole time and no battery management disabled
no its mostly hardware perfection (nothing to stop me using it) but its would be considered bad with other high price products like a car.
my crappy windows laptop run it fine L2UseWIndows !
I just wanted to chime in about Win 7. So far I have zero issues running Traktor S4 & Traktor Pro/Scratch Pro.
My specs:
Windows 7
i5 processor 2.26ghz
Dell XPS 16
4 Gigs Ram
500 Gig HD
NOTE: I installed a regular version of Win 7 on my machine. As with most/all commercially purchased windows machines you MUST remove all the crap the hardware manufacter sends. Clean your startup items and follow BASIC Windows tweaks.
Just an FYI I love Macs also and have owned them as well as repair them on a daily basis. I just want to let people know that Mac is not the only machine that traktor will work with 100%. You can do the same with Windows and about an hour of your time. Google “WINDOWS AUDIO TWEAKS” and perform the most popular ones. Also note you can get a nice windows laptop for about 500 - 600$ USD.
Dude you were so right, the S4 is awesome. I’m so hooked and am having a blast. It sure has helped this week considering most of NYC is still under 3 feet of snow.
Woah, turning off the wifi helps a million, think that was my only problem, that and having a clean computer, I had a bday bash after the club and we made like 3 2-hour sets, tore the crap out of the sample decks, and all on my PC not one glitch, cut, crash but the ones I intentionally made XD
I’m glad everything worked out…those wifi drivers cause problems on so many computers. I used to shut them off on my Mac too, the last thing you need in a set is your computer wigging out.
and did you have to do ANY tweeks at all to get the full performance out of the S4.
also, could other MBP users say if they needed to do any tweeks with drivers/settings etc to get the most from the S4,
or do MBP works right off the bat ?
thanks in advance
EDIT. im a windows user and tweeking windows aint a problem for me,
but i dont know my way around MACs (yet)
I was supervisor at Frys Electronics, all I’d recommend were Apple computers, peole don’t understand how ineffecient Windows computers are. Before the flame war starts, I own both. The reason Mac’s are seeming to have less issues with TS4 is because of the lack of extra processes in the background and how efficient the RAM is being used.
Stating the obvious as far as music processing/anything with heavy use of RAM. Mac > PC
opened the mac for some cleaning and 1 ram stick wasn’t correctly plugged back in, so i was running with 1gb of ram…
opened again, reinstalled them and now running fine and dandy
