Hey everyone, i’ve been planning to do some videos over the next little while to set myself apart from the next guy in town. The idea I have for this video is to do a presentation on “safe mixing” that draws parallels to safe sex. I was hoping to get some more ideas for how I can draw that parallel. Here’s a few ideas i’ve come up with already.
Using protection
Pulling out your headphones when you don’t feel comfortable in the mix
Experimenting when your ready, 3 decks 4 decks, bring new toys into the mix
Catching a bad beat (STI’s), my gf came up with the genius idea of doing a shot where I wake up next to a Rebecca Black record in my bed
I’d talk about being careful about who you DJ with because you don’t know where there equipment has been
Making sure you don’t start so fast right off the start otherwise you might blow the speakers.
Experiment, be open to trying new stuff and prevent falling into routine.
Treat other people’s gear the same way you like yours to be treated.
Keep your crate tidy and trimmed (tagged).
Don’t blow the bangers too early, foreplay is always nice.
Always have a backup (escape) plan.
Practice new moves until they become something natural and you don’t have to think about it.
You are not there just to please (play for) yourself, give some love back and you will get a second call.
