Sample decks?
Let me know if you this will work.
I’m using a 2 channel mixer with 2 mic inputs and an audio 8 dj.
Channel 1- Deck A
Channel 2- Deck B
Can I route both sample decks into one of my mic inputs or both?

Only if you can set those inputs to line level.
I know that I can have them in the line in the rear and switch back on forth between that on the phono/line or have them routed to channel 1/channel 2 along with the decks but I don’t want them to be controlled by the crossfader. I just want them on all the time.
This is what im thinking. RCA to 1/4 inch input into the mic input. Would it work?
Like I said, only if you can set the mic input to line level.
I don’t believe you can. It just says on/off/talk.
i dont know if you would want to but inturnally in traktor you can set up multiple outputs to one channel, for example:
I mix currently with a two channel mixer and an A4DJ but i have Traktor scratch pro 2. So in the Output routeing section you can set up multiple decks to one output so my set up is decks A&C to channel one and B&D to channel 2
Sounds like carl has the only sensible solution.
Yeah I know I can do it that way, but really don’t want the sample decks to be controlled with the crossfader.
Looks like you’re going to have to upgrade your mixer
OR
get a tiny mixer and route the samplers + the master from the DJ mixer into that one.
MUSIC STORE (formerly DV247) - Order musical instruments | United Kingdom ← That kinda crap. I’m not gunna vouch for this product. It’s just the cheapest mixer that came up.
Damn, I guess I’ll just have to start searching with something with a session in or something.
This is what I read in the manual. I guess I still don’t understand completely why just running into the mic channel won’t work even though its not a line input being its the same impedance and all. I’m kinda new to this so if you can explain why it won’t work that would help a lot. Sorry If I just keep repeating myself.
Line/Aux: 10kΩ input impedance, 5.6mV rms sensitivity for 1.0V output
Mic: 10kΩ input impedance, 1mV rms sensitivity for 1.0V output
It has a mic pre amp on it so the much louder line level output from the sound card will clip HORRIBLY. Like insanely. Go try it.
ah okay, thanks for explaining. If I was to ad an inline volume control of some sort or some type or reducer to reduce the sensitivity and reduce my internal sound level. It would work maybe? Or is it still going to be nuts?
Maybe, I don’t know. I doubt it but hey it might work. ![]()
Alright. Thanks for all the help man.
Right now I have A and C + B and D out through 2 channels. If you map out the volume and the filter with Gain control on C and D, I think you might have enough control to get them into the mix.
Spend a couple sessions just mixing the eq with filters and you get the idea. hi pass for the hight stuff lo pass for the low stuff.
Maybe you could try one deck and one sample deck, and just copy samples for the out going track and load up the new track in the deck.
Ive just solved your problem!
when in traktor go to the mixer layout and on the box to the left of the crossfader only have deck A selected and on the right only have deck B selected, make sure C and D are not white then BOOM! crossfader doesnt do anything to C and D yet audio still plays full
Nice idea but we’re talking about external mixing dude ![]()
forgot, my bad…with a 4 deck mixer would this work? it still gives you the option in external mode
4 deck mixer would be fine. I just don’t really like the idea of a 4 channel. I think i’m just going to scoop up a djm707.
Isn’t the crossfader disabled when mixing in external mode?
