I saw Sasha last night at Set in Miami to close out music week, and to my surprise, one of the sound guys was setting up a pair of X1s right before he got on.
from the end of the night:
(also, apparently iPhones kinda suck in clubs)
At that point he was using CDs and tagging with the girl in the picture (Cassy Britton) for the last 45 minutes or so of a 3 and a half hours set. But he was definitely on Traktor for the majority of his set…sounded like he was using TPro 2 and at least the loop recorder, but I could be wrong. He was using a DB4, so what I heard could have been don inside it.
Kind of cool, if you ask me.
(note: by last night…i mean sunday night…i didn’t sleep that night, so it seems like yesterday)
He was on CDs a few weeks ago in atlanta, though I’ve only seen him using Xones…well…since they’ve existed, at least.
He hasn’t used Ableton exclusively for a while. His controller blew up on him at some point and he didn’t trust it. He was using both for a while, but apparently he gave up. He didn’t even have the maven in the booth the last couple times I saw him.
His set on Sunday was also a lot better than when I saw him in like '05 on Ableton.
Saw pictures of it around the net that was a bad-ass controller. Way ahead of its time when Sasha first started using it. I liked it because it resembled a regular DJ mixer and looked like it was built like a tank.
DJ Endo from Native Instruments mentioned on his twitter.. (well I’m assuming he represents them) that he just helped Sasha setup TP2 and also Steve Lawler last weekend in Miami .. check his twitter.
