Scratch Live allowed in 2011 DMC

The time has come, one of our last bastions is falling, Rane and Serato are proud to announce that SSL is allowed in the 6 minutes Single routines and in the team routines :disappointed:

I did hope this day would never come, i“ll bet they ONLY allow SSL, and no traktor scratch or alike, meaning they only cater to SSL-DJ“s, how fair is that?

Let’s boycot DMC!

This one will definitely be bringing in some butthurt tears to the hardcore crowd that still bashes digital DJ’s. It’s obvious where the future lies… now if some people would just openly accept it and get on with their lives.

I will say it’s no surprise Serato is up to their same old tricks of trying to force their product on the consumer by establishing some kind of niche. They need to allow all the top products or it’s a total load of bull.

I’m glad they are finally getting the picture. It’s tome to be relevant along with the old school style.

I thought id never see the day. And im down lets boycott!!!

No FX i bet.

Or no midi controlled FX.

or hotcueing

correct!

So what then?

They will need to put all the samples into one audio file?

Will they be allowed to touch the lappy? setup new tracks?
Will look and be shit i rate.

All in one file is my bet…but they will be scrubbing like a biatch…maybe.

I’m thinking needle drop in absolute mode (dunno if serato has relative) so bye bye to looping. Maybe use it as close to ā€œrealā€ vinyl as posible, making it fair for old school peeps.

The only benefit not having to get your tracks/samples pressed

I really don’t see the benefit of using DVS in such a contest. All the features that make DVS useful and different from regular vinyl will (hopefully) not be allowed otherwise it will just be the case of who uses the most loops and effects and not who has the best and most creative routine. Shame.

lol @ the whiners…

I bet hotcues are allowed, i have seen the Japan DJ Team do so during this years team eliminations. They used like every function the rane sl57 has to offer, loops, effect, cues. You name it.

at least they wont have to press dub plates. imo they should be allowed to switch files, cause thats the same (if a bit less intensive) than changing vinyl.

I’m not too sure what this thread is about yet. Then again, none of us really do.

The only confirmed fact here is that Serato and Rane are sponsoring and there will be some capacity of DVS to be allowed. Nothing else has been stated yet, so take it easy.

That said, I think we all agree that we hope it isn’t a closed format, and in the bloody year 2010 it’s only natural for all digital tools to be available to competing artists.

The analogous thread to this one over at the Serato forum is hilarious, y’all should take a look.

oh the humanity!

I would imagine if there’s guys here that don’t like the idea of it that there’s probably guys over there that are on the verge going nuclear.

Here’s an idea…

DMC = Serato Champion

= Traktor Champion

= Torq Champion

= other DVS Champion

Like boxing, they all meet for a unification battle of sorts. I’d watch that!

different divisions with/without controllers, etc…

For DMC I see them using the TTM57SL as their competition mixer (forcing all those financially strapped DJs to save their money so they can emulate the setup in their bedrooms, only to have DMC change the sponsor the next year…what a concept… highest bidder gets sales…whatever that’s worth)

It’s all about business..

Bravo! About time, im sure they will have rules on how serato will be used and points get deducted if you touch your computer. Maybe 2x 1200’s TTM 57 and the laptop off to the side would be perfect. Most if not all controls from SSL can be used by by simply mapping the it on the 57.

It’s marketing for Serato… pure and simple. Guaranteed they shelled out large for that sponsorship deal…

Vinyl purist have been replaced by serato purists anyway… they’re the same zealous douchbags…

Legalize steroids in the Olympics already… that’s the shit I want to see
