Scratch, the movie.

Scratch, the movie.

I was particularly interested on how the early guys were using just the crappiest equipment possible and it was all about attitude, vision, hard work practising and being creative. Once the orthodox setup became standard (Two Technics and a Rane mixer) then commercialized and sold to Joe Average, it all turned into a bit of a dick-measuring contest.

Here’s to no standard setup!

Awesome, ta!

I absolutely digg this flick, i got it back than when it was first released on dvd with dutch subtitles. Theres also a live-dvd, where MMMike and the X-men play a routine/set. Its still beeing played time to time, whenever i wanna get amazed.

Thanks!

Definitely one of my favorite films. I’ve had it on my DVR for the past few years, and the last time I tried watching it I literally had to stop just a little bit in to contain my nigh irresistible urge to spend the last of my money on decks and a mixer.

Looks interesting. Leeching off youtube now :stuck_out_tongue:

awesome doc, and now i know where DZ got his sample “this is music i’ve been waiting all my life to hear, and i didn’t know it” :stuck_out_tongue:

don’t ruin it for me man, its taking a while to dl the higher quality vershun

great link. thanks man i loved it.

was kinda eerie watching roc raida, i cant believe hes gone.

lol my bad but it was just a quote from the movie, not a huge spoiler :stuck_out_tongue:

its all about z-trip blending hall of the mountain king with the hiphop break… classic flick

Another good one, which i saw today is this

Great doco about the development of techno culture in germany in the late 80’s. most of it is subbed but the narration & this trailer isnt for some reason. Full version available on PB

I own a copy of Scratch, I love that flick. I think my favorite part is when DJ Shadow is talking about egos in the vinyl basement and says something about being humbled by all those who thought they were bad ass, but eventually end up in the basement.

Amazing Doc, awesome soundtrack.

Good doco, nice piece of inspiration
