Sending Ableton Sets
Hey all,
Me and a friend of mine produce together. I produce our drums, while the rest is on his computer together. So i send the drum sounds to him, and we build whole songs on his computer. How can i get the full sets with all the sounds onto my computer? Is it possible? We have an external hard drive if that helps.

WeTransfer.Info. Zip the project file. Or indeed use the old-fashioned way of hard disks/USB drives et rest.
You could make your liveset yourself, go to Menu → Collect All and Save, then compress/send the file to your friend for use on his computer. This works going both ways, to and from your friend’s computer.
Yes, I forgot the collect and save. You need to do it yourself from time to time because if you move things around and especially delete samples, if the project does not have them inside, your project is now incomplete.
Im a little confused with the collect all and send? Which setting do i use? There are only like four options but… yeah. Does everything need to be in audio files? or can you collect all + send with midi files too?

In Live, go to the File menu and Choose “Save Live Set As”, then pick a new location on your hard drive. Once that’s done, go to File, and Choose “Collect all and Save”. Assuming you both have the same version of Live, you can leave the first two options unchecked, and only select the last two. Otherwise, check everything.
If you both have live 8 you can use their servers to cross projects over. All you got to do is click the share live set button and follow instructions. Then you friend can download it.
That functionality no longer works. Ableton has put it on hold for now.
