serato ssl and kontrol s4

serato ssl and kontrol s4

i know the kontrol s4 can be used as a midi controller is ssl but what im really interested in is being able to use my current s4 setup and nothing else in serato scratch with timecode. Currently my setup is turntable (s4) turntable. so pretty much what it boils down to is, is it possible to use the s4 as a soundcard (with timecode) essentially for serato scratch. The forums at NI said it wasnt possible, but i feel like there has to be a crack or some little trick to making this work without a rane soundcard. If anyone knows anymore about this, pleeeeaaaassseee help me out, i really wanna use the bridge along with my s4 and vinyls, that shit would be bad ass.

No there is no way to make it work.

Regardless of any “crack” or hack you might try Scratch Live does not have internal mixing, you need a real mixer.

why don’t you wait from traktor 2.5 they’re basically responding to the bridge with that update and like haze said there wouldn’t be a way for you to do it

There isn’t. First off, every rane SL box acts as a dongle for SSL to enable certain features of the software. There is a private key stored on the SL box which is requested by SSL once the USB dong is recognized by your computer as an SL box. Once the box is authenticated by SSL, SSL enables all of its features instead of being just 1 deck playback.

+1 to everything already stated.

…which is the reason why SSL software.

If it was as easy as finding a “crack” then seratos entire business model would be up the shitter!! You think they’d overlook that small detail?!?!

Well what about m-audio connectiv with an external mixer? I dont expect there to be a difference but if you know of anything let me know

Theres no way of running serato without a rane soundcard or a rane ssl enabled mixer. What you could do if you have a powerful computer is buy a rane sl2, connect the turntables to it, then connect the outputs of the sl2 into the two inputs on the s4, and then run both traktor and ssl at the same time, setting the traktor decks to aux. Soo you could use the s4 as a mixer basically, but I’d be pretty unreliable I would imagine..
