Shambhala

Shambhala

Anyone from DJ Tech Tools gonna hit this up? Amazing festival with some sick acts including askillz, q-bert, plump djs (first north american date in 10 years), bassnectar. Definitely worth hitting up if you can. Fucking amazing time. Hope to see you all there.

$230 for a ticket? That’s quite a bit.

i wish! i went three years in a row from 06-08…
amazing party, you have to go to it to understand just how amazing it is.

can honestly say most of my best rave memories are from nights spent at that festival.

have fun guys!

$230 For 6 stages, over 100 acts and 5 days of non-stop world class electronic music. There’s no other place like it anywhere. Everyone who djs should experience it at least once.

I didn’t see the part about it being 5 days - must have missed that. I take back what I said, this seems worth it!

I’ve been a long time reader of the forums but never registered to voice my opinion. I just signed up, simply to exclaim my love affair for Shambhala! In all seriousness though, that festival is the “bee’s knees”! I’ve been going for the last three years straight. Definitely worth the money.

I can show you one that does the same thing for less than half the price (15 stages and WAY over 100 acts, 60000 open-minded people), but you won’t see propaganda for it anywhere. I’d say it’s even better because you don’t get the same boring stuff every year. with all due respect to top-acts like qbert or plump djs, if you’ve heard them once there’s not much need to hear them again except maybe in a couple of years when their set has changed…

//edit: btw, I don’t mean to bash shambhala at all, marketing statements like these simply annoy me

My in-laws actually live 10 minutes down the road from the farm.
Wish I was going this year but unfortunately I wont be making it.

for those who have not experienced what is shambahlah here are some vid clips:

Where is this party? I’d love to check it out. Of course I know there’s tons of festivals that are similar to Shambhala all over the world, but they all have their own unique feel and vibe that make them awesome. I just got back from this tiny festival near Edmonton called Astral Harvest that blew my mind. So much wicked music, stages and awesome people. Check out this vid i took of Longwalkshortdock taking digital djing to a new level.

there’s a reason why the festival you talk about can afford to sell cheaper tickets, they’re cramming almost half of shambhala’s overall attendee count into each of those 15 stages. also there is no such thing as shambhala propaganda, the only advertising they do is word of mouth in addition to their website where you can purchase tickets and find out necessary information about the festival. they are a mom&pop operation on a farm in middle of the fucking forest, they don’t have any corporate sponsorship whatsoever. yet they still manage to operate one the most notorious parties in the world which many of the world’s top DJs such as Z-Trip and Drop The Lime have publicly stated is one of the best if not the best events they have ever played.

if your preference is to go to a quantity over quality music festival where the only charm about it is to see as many well known music acts in a single weekend, crammed shoulder to shoulder 10 miles away from the actual stage, then shambhala probably won’t be your cup of tea. as the festival has grown over the years, many of the older attendees have claimed it’s not what it used to be (negatively) as it becomes more and more like the festival you talk about - yet it still offers a far more intimate experience than the over capacity mega festivals.

not to bash your mystery festival, but it sounds really unappealing to the type of audience you would generally find at shambhala - most the people just got to shamb for the unique experience and the vibe, the awesome music is just a bonus. not to mention, to say that it’s only electronic music is false; there is also reggae, hiphop, funk/soul and rock bands.

It’s honestly a festival my friends and I have been thinking about going to in the future, but not this year. It really has a stellar line-up.

FYI Plump DJ’s played Ultra this year, so that factoid is false written above.

But best of luck to all those who CAN go. Lucky bastards.

word. they came through town here a few months back as well, it might’ve even been last year - can’t remember exactly. it was shortly after they got their visa situation worked out though.

Im warming up for the Plump DJs in a few weeks… Should blast I reckon.

Many years since i seen them. Not really my bag but a guaranteed party !!!

Anyhoo, Shambhala looks good to me.

Of course we all know that Glastonbury IS the best festival in the world and the one all others want to emulate, right ? teehee j/k

Haha no shit. Gotta get my facts strait.
