Shantea Controls aka my own DIY MIDI controllers

Instead of starting new thread for each of my controller, I’ve figured it would be best to keep it all in one topic. So, in short, Shantea Controls is the name I’ve given to my virtual company which builds MIDI controllers. Since the company doesn’t exist in reality, the only one behind all the work (which I do in my bedroom) is me. Anyways, I’ve started building Sensimidia, which is my 2nd commercial project (I build these things for money), and 3rd “Shantea Controls” project in total. First two controllers are covered here and here. The design and construction is pretty much the same as Anandamidi, but I’ve managed to make some improvements, most significally, this controller is based on my OpenDeck project (you can read about it on this forum, or on my blog), and this time I have necessarry screws for faders. Here are couple of pictures:

Sensimidia (kudos to people who figure out the source of the name) is still work in progress, so I’ll keep updating this thread. Oh, for those with facebook, here’s a test run I did today with it:

That is really neat and tidy design and high build quality, better than some pro grade gear I’ve seen.

That means a lot, thanks!

Sensimilla…Sensimidia…

I like it!

Here is Sensimidia all wired up:

…and this is Sensimidia completed! Video soon.

Okay, here’s (really) quick video:

And blog post about it:

Something new. Wanted to test how good this wood is. Not much.

A bit of updates.

Thanks to some code optimizations, Vu-meter function from Traktor to my controllers now works perfectly. See it in action here:

Also, there is a new OpenDeck software release, v1.2 which brings many performance improvements. Grab it here:

And finally, I’ve started work on Ceylon, my latest controller.

You looking for small projects? I have wanted something very simple for a while. If your interested in doing a one off controller for me let me know.

I wrote a reply to your inbox here.

Video soon!

Really quick test run

How much would you charge for the Tannin?

200€ with those tactile buttons, 250 with arcade ones (like on MIDI Fighter).

I’m going to make new version of Tannin, as soon as I get all the components. This is the design:

Compared to original Tannin, it uses 16 silicone keys, 16 LEDs (one on each key), 16 potentiometers, 4 encoders (below pots) and 3 metal buttons. Any thoughts?

Other stuff:

I’ve written a lengthy post about Ceylon, you can check it here:
https://shanteacontrols.wordpress.com/2015/02/24/building-ceylon/

Also, I hope I can start working on OpenDeck2 soon, as I’m busy with some other projects at the moment.

Finally, here’s proper video with Tannin and Ceylon!

If u are interested in a big complicated controller project , pm me.. Will pay

Just received the board for Tannin 2.

I was looking for someone who could create a custom DJ controller. Please shoot me a message if you are considering tackling a one-off project!
