new mapping from viper is out. https://www.traktorbible.com/freaks/mappingview.aspx?id=678
I’m not sure if I have the jogs set up correctly, it looks like there used to be a command “scratch” and now it’s “jog turn”
so I’ve got:
jog touch on - ch3 through ch6 D#2 that stops the track when touching the top of the platter
jog turn - ch3 through ch6 cc 19 that seems to do essentially the scratch function.
tempo bend stepless - ch3 through ch6 cc 19
does this look right or am I missing something else to get the jogs to function properly, they seem to move the song faster then I thought and the tempo bend is “funny” for lack of a better way to explain it.
Look under rotary sensitivity and adjust resolution for both bend and scratch to your taste.
I think that they changed scratch to jog turn to eliminate use of modifiers. So jog turn controls tempo bend when jog touch isn’t enabled, and scratch when it is. It took a while to get the settings right, but what I did was map the vinyl button as a modifier toggle and when it was set to 1, the jog touch sensor turned jog touch on, and when it was off you could touch the touch sensor without stopping playback.
I also made separate jog turn functions, with different sensitivities, one being enabled when track was playing and one for when it wasn’t, and I think one for when jog touch was on.
They have changed it in 2.5 when NI have separated deck page in to track deck and deck common tab. The scratch command was removed because it actually sounded good - I remember my button mapping trick with a backspin trigger which was awesome. The jog turn is a simple pitchbend function with adjustable sensitivity so you would still need to use modifier for toggle function or the hardware button that sends a different note or channel..
Jog touch command don’t work as a modifier so once you hold the track you would basically do scratches in the same rotary settings the pitchbend command is set for.
Maybe this can help:
I think that’s similar to what I’ve done, I’ve got the modifier on the vinyl button so I don’t accidentally trigger the jog touch when I don’t want it.
That worked perfectly, thanks!
I do wish we could have more modifiers per line though. I’m using one mod on the wheels so that they can be used to browse when in browse full screen, and another modifier for when the vinyl mode is on or off.
I absolutely agree - only two modifier condition slots per command is pretty much limiting. I suggested this feature as well as adding another set of at least 8 modifiers in NI forums about two years ago… They doesn’t seem to care updating this since majority of users don’t even know what modifiers are there for.
