Show me something impressive (sync users)

Doesnt matter if you sync or dont sync. the crowd nowadays cares only about the music or the image its self. Look at DJ Bl3nd for example: A no talent hack that syncs everything and just dances around like an idiot is one the most popular DJs in america right now for EH/Dutch

I’ve done a few experiments with building tracks from scratch within traktor using sync. I record the output and perform the first part, drums for example, then load that back in and overdub then next part. I repeat this and build up the layers. It’s a really fun way to produce, but not really translatable to a live performance atm as I can only do one or two parts at one time.

Here’s an example of what i’m talking about:

Alex Wild. That pretty interesting stuff you got going on there. Not to derail, but have you messed about with Ableton at all? I could see you really getting into it, as it has a great interface for live performance based on loop samples.

+1

305!

Cheers man, appreciate you taking a listen. I’ve used Live before but didnt really gel with it. Just got a maschine and have been really enjoying getting into that. The problem is that if I ever took it live I dont feel that triggering loops is enough for me, I want to play the parts ‘live’. So im thinking maybe I need to collaborate with someone on it so there are more hands.

@dodge:

…what? Why is someone playing to themselves expected to do anything impressive? Its not like they’re competing at something, they’re just having fun.

By the same idea I guess I could say that someone DJing in a club doesn’t have to do anything impressive, which could be countered with iTunes playlist etc etc all of which I agree with. The job of a DJ just isn’t as necessary as it once was. Before, someone actually needed to be DJing just to keep the music from stopping with the limitations of time on a record, now all that’s really necessary is someone to pick the next track.

Amen. Its pretty rare that I see anyone defend sync by just saying “its easier” straight up, always the creativity bullshit that I’ve rarely seen applied. Most of such creativity is just mangling perfectly good tracks without understanding the basics of mixing.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about people that want/need to know why people use sync?
Seriously.. can anyone give me a clue about that one? OP?

Can you show us (ie link to your shizzle) whats so impressive about your mixing please?

Thanks

i love the sync button.

in my car sync lets me use voice commands to control my phone or mp3 player.

it will also read text messages to me and let me select from a list of responses to text back to someone while im at a stoplight.

why don’t you show us something impressive?

which america? i have no idea who that dude is…

you want something impressive?

tl;dr

I think someone mentioned it best a few threads ago.. The reason there is so much “sync button” and “laptop” hate is because a lot of the professional dj’s/producers who are coming to their own at the moment have been spinning for like 10-15+ years, so when it comes to performing they like to use what they are comfortable with (cdj’s/vinyl). So because that is what is in the public highlight most of the time, its been put up on a pedestal as the “standard of dj ethics” or some shit.

In the next say 5 years id expect the number of sync button and laptop guys to increase. Hell, half of the dj’s in europe are already swinging that way.

**Just for the record, Ive been spinning tunes for 8 years. I started with 2 (actual) CD players and a PA system, moved onto using a turntable and a cdj, then 2 cdj’s. In the last 2 years I started using DVS and now im using a full digital set up. I still enjoy hitting up the cdj’s though, because as my point before, its what i was brought up on.

Lets stop all the hate? KthnxBye :stuck_out_tongue:

Word

Who says because ur young u can’t be a dj ? I understand that u have to work at it and practice and jam alot.
I have never being to a club, I haven’t got wasted, I have never played on a professional sound system.
I have rocked a room of 300, I have successfully learnt how to beatmatch.
I’m 14.

So to all of u that think that u can put an age limit on dj, and to all if u who think that people aren’t real djs because they use the sync button. Sync again.

yah seriously … have you earned the right to use your cellphone? That’s not conversing! Get yourself two cans and a piece of string.

coffee cans get the best reception…

What can I say, haters gonna hate.

Have you two earned the right to use that string? You should learn to do smoke signals in case your string breaks.
