So, as the title suggests, in your “bedroom” setups, do you guys have it set up so that you are sitting down, or standing up while playing with your equipment?
I’ve seen various things with both, and I’m interested to see what people say. I imagine more people stand than sit, but we’ll see.
Most of the time I stand, the problem is that I got some back problems that force me after a while to sit down a little. At home I got a big, fluffy armchair in my “booth”, but when I’m at a gig, I usually ask for a stool or something similar.
I think one day I gotta get one of these: [ame=“Amazon.com”]Amazon.com: Technical Pro DJ CHAIR Portable DJ Chair (Black): Musical Instruments@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31uGlaAStBL.@@AMEPARAM@@31uGlaAStBL[/ame].
EDIT: I didn’t know that the board does something like above with Amazon links and I don’t know what to think of it.
Depends. I sit while managing tracks and mapping controllers, most of the time. I’ve done house parties sitting (or kneeling on the floor) where there wasn’t a table high enough.
Basically, I’d rather stand than sit, but more so I’d rather sit than hurt my back.
Oh yeah, and not all of my stuff fits on my “DJ Furniture.” I’m enjoying Traktor so much, I might move my Ableton stuff to my desk.
Stand all the time when mixing (home or live). It is just to hard to not jam when im mixing. I always know I had a god sesh when i break a nasty sweat!
Same as the previous answers. Stand while mixing/playing, sit for gridding, play lists, etc. When ever I try to do anything sitting, I’m never as on beat or in the music as much as I am “standing” which is more like dancing, bobbing, tapping, and a few other verbs ending in ing.
