Sky vs Virgin....

Sky vs Virgin…

So i moved into my new house last Thursday  (love it) And i have to wait till this Friday for my phone to start working and then a further 2 weeks for my broadband internet to be up and running again with sky. So i thought id ring virgin as i keep getting offers sent to me with a “sky switcher” offer and when i spoke to them i couldnt turn it down. At present with sky i have the sky world package with sky sports and a sky + box, no multi-room and no HD, and 8 meg adsl broadband and phone line rental all for a cost of £82 per month. From virgin, they are coming to install everything on Friday, and im getting the new TiVo box for downstairs which is HD and can record 3 things and still watch something else, 30 meg broadband via fibre optic cable, their xl tv package which includes espn (£9 with sky) my sky sports a further box for up in the bedroom so we can watch different things upstairs (multi-room) phone line with free calls, its costing me £58 forthe 1st months then after that its £79 per month. Im chuffed to bits with that offer as with sky that little lot would be well over £100 and still with shitty adsl 8 meg internet.

I don’t trust Virgin any more, in my 2nd year of uni there was a massive shitstorm cos they had some amazing offer which all the students signed up for, then they realised they didn’t have the capacity or something. There were a couple of months when 60% of the students basically had no internet and TV was very intermittent.

been with Virgin from 10 years or so, never had a problem …

I thought virgin was relativly new, it used to be NTL for abit and some one else before them. When you say 10 years do you mean through the various companies that have been around? I had NTL a while back and they were the most appauling company I have ever dealt with. Have virgin now though and it seems ok, 50 meg broadband is epic.

This exact fucking thing happened to me last year in Brighton. Fuck virgin. They didn’t get a single fucking penny from me.

They do not have the hardware to deliver the products you are paying for. It’s a fucking disgrace and it really should be illegal.

Just watch out for cancellation fees from sky… they were total knobs when I switched from them

I’ve had Sky Hd for a couple of years now, I’ve had to replace the box 5 times! I’ve heard good things about Virgins new box.

wasnt charged anything from sky, they didnt even argue or try and keep my business. Got the virgin installed today, the TiVo box seems pretty fucking awesome on 1st impressions. We have another box up in the bedroom now so multi-room which is a god send, and the broadband is a hell of a lot faster than the sky. Lots of HD channels to chose from, my only downer is that the sky sports HD channels have to be paid for with an extra £7 if i want them :disappointed: i thought they would have been included in the fee for the sky sports pack. Still got espn HD for free and lots of others too.
