Slice to MIDI feature

Slice to MIDI feature

There is a feature I use quite often in Ableton and just wondering if anybody knows of a way to transfer it to Cubase easily.

In Ableton you can right click on an audio clip and choose ‘slice to MIDI’, then choose anything between 1 and 127 steps. You can then trigger the slices via the different MIDI steps in a random order to slice and splice up an audio clip up as you wish.

It is pretty intuitive and nifty, and just wondering if anybody knows of an easy way to do this in Cubase?

Cheers all!

not sure but i think this feature is exclusive to ableton.

You can accomplish the same thing in Cubase.

• Choose the audio file in the project window that you want to chop up. Chop it up in as many pieces as you’d like (tip: you can hold alt with the scissors tool to chop up the entire clip into the same size pieces).

• Load a Groove Agent SE4 sampler on an instrument track.

• Now select all of the pieces you chopped up and drag them to the first pad on the Groove Agent sampler, they should distribute across all of the pads. Depending on where you drop them on the pad they can also be velocity layers etc…
