Slide Potentiometers resistance...

Slide Potentiometers resistance…

Hi i am modding my midi mixer and would like to change the slide potentiometers. there are lots of them available however they all come in different resistances. how can i figure out what resistance would be the right one.
its a small usb powered midi controller. the cable used are really small, so i think the resistance has to be really low. how can i measure the actual intensity and what else do i need to calculate the resistance. afaik its intensity I and power P which would be the easiest to measure.

Spannung U = Volt V
Stromstärke I = Ampere A
Widerstand R = Ohm Ω
Leistung P = Watt W

could it be, that if its usb powered and thus delivers +5Volt at 500mA the resistance is 5/0.5 = 10 ohm which means the maximum resistance of the slidepotentiometer i can buy has 10 ohm right

hm the smallest slide potentiometer i cna find online have 1000 ohm ??? going up to 1.000.000 ohm… :-/ something must be wrong in my calculations then

I think 10k is good.
as comparison;In the vci-100 all potentiometers/sliders are 10k.
and its also usb powered.

thank you, another opinion would be appreciated.

btw anthony, how do you know that the vci ones are 10K ?

Look here;

hey what i meant is, can i see on the faders whats the ohm, so i coudl figure out how much ohm sliders are installed in my midi controller.

I don’t know what controller you have and what sort of faders.
You have to open up the controller, take the fader out, and take a close look
at it.
Look for some code.
Or try to find an similar fader on the market (mouser,Farnell),and compare
for specs.
This is the way I did It.

Pots are balanced so the resistance only matters to limit current.

10 K will be fine in all situations.

thx this hels a lot
