So glad i bought my MacBook Pro

wouldn’t have said it was a bad laptop no, its still only 8 months old, it worked ok for normal use. Im not gettin in to an argument about pc and mac, that wasnt the reason i started the thread, i just thought id let everyone know my opinion on my purchase lol

Jesc, i was wondering what the best way to do it is? either get it now or Karlos said apple will contact me just before my 1st 12 months is up and i can extend it then for less? is that correct? i know you only get 90 days phone support on the normal waranty as applecare you get phone support for the full 3 years.

the only real relevent discussion on pc vs mac for dj’s is coreaudio vs asio

Which I might start a topic on so we can sticky. I know a lot about that as well (especially as a technician/dj that just went pc ----> mac ----> back to pc)

why does it say imac and macbook pro in your siggy then? no mention of pc there haha

It does feel good, and a 17" screen is just perfect. ^.^

Only downside is that it’s hard to find laptop stands for 17" T.T

to be fair, i bought a laptop stand from maplins in the uk and it cost maybe £25 and my mbp fits great in it  would like a crane stand tho haha

I guess I’m thinking of more DJ oriented stands (had to ditch ubserstand, crane wouldn’t work, etc.).

@paulmac applecare cost the same if you buy it on the 1st day or right before the 1 year mark.

ah right, cool no probs…i love how everything fits on the 17" screen, the recorder all 4 fx banks, the master clock and that…

And buy your applecare from a reputable ebay seller, and you’ll save a bundle !!!

It is a life saver.

Its the little things on Macs that make the difference ..

The new mac smell (its very discinct!)
The lack of vents all over
OSX (ok not a small thing).
Even the charger is nicely designed and practical.. the magnet is is a godsend and saved my bacon on many occasions!
Little Things like the glass multitouch and backlit keyboard .. its gotten than I hate using a mouse a this stage and could not live without a backlight.
When you hold one or touch one they just feel like solid “lump” of a machine - even the plastic Macbooks feel loverly.

And the battery life is insane !

And at this stage the simplicity of the internal design (g3/g4 alu series macs were a bitch though!).

I dont think they “actually” last any longer than a PC laptop, but people generally care for them a bit better, and (in general) its not necessary to upgrade your entire unit with every OS upgrade … bit of extra ram will do the trick or a bigger hard drive.

There’s very few PC manufacturers that can hold a candle to the design of a Mac .. I used to say Sony was the closest but these days even they have the “generic” feel to them.

I’m not talking about general Specs BTW.. but in general their design is better, OS is more optimized, and “stupid proof” .. things just work.

The problem is that its so easy to become an addict, I try feed my one by getting everyone I know to get a mac and that actually saves me time and trouble getting those calls in the middle of a relaxing weekend…

Friend: “I think i clicked something on a site and nothings working now i keep getting popups”
Me: “were you looking at porn”
Friend: “No no ..someone sent me an email and I clicked it”
Me: “Rigggggght”
Friend:“Come on over and fix it and I’ll buy you beer”
Me: “Its a pretty old machine isn’t it ?, I reckon your gonna keep having these problems unless you get a new one soon…i’ll bring over mine and show you what it can do.. clean your keyboard will you before I come over”

:stuck_out_tongue:

I was expecting a mac vs pc arguement just from the title of this thread. I’m glad you got a new toy to play around with

MY POINTS:
What if the title said “So glad I got a new windows 7 laptop”
U don’t think ppl would come in here glorifying their macbooks?

Anyways from everything I’ve noticed the only real advantage to using mac over windows at at this point is the ease of traktor recognizing itunes (kinda an advantage)
-Latency
-S4 has kinda sucked it up on windows…

I wouldn’t really know though cuz I just loaded OSX on my $700 vaio and it doesn’t have aluminum casing so it must not be working properly haha.

The only thing that ticks me off about apple and why I won’t buy their products is the fact that the hardware in almost all their products is like 3 years old and they still cost more than any other laptop on the market…
-OSX is good for Dj’ing though
-And they look hella sexy

Congrats on the new toy

because my sig isnt my epeen and i havent really hung out here in months.

its updated now.

You can stick a rolls royce engine into a ford taurus .. doens’t mean its a rolls royce :stuck_out_tongue:

Pulling your leg dude but I wouldn’t trade off the build quaility of a mac for anything (except maybe budget)

And yeah I have hackintoshed as well in the past when budget wouldn’t permit the real thing…but its not just all about specs, its the 'lil niceties with the design that make the user experience.
