So, is Richie Hawtin the only DJ in the world to go digital?

Back on topic..

I think the trick in being able to do this automatically will be for Traktor to know the difference between a track being cue’d and a track being played.

Right now my history lists contain the tracks I’ve cued up and changed my mind about playing. There was some talk about an upcoming version of Traktor having the ability to set a threshold of some sort to determine if a track has been played or not. Also, what about short loops?

It could be tied to whenever a track hits the Master on the clock? I mean, would you want to tell people the name of songs that you are only using short loops of, probably layered with other tracks? At least, through twitter. You can always add them later to an official playlist

I’m more interested in this statement:

“You can see Richie is incorporating Native Instruments’ new Maschine (pronounced “Machine-A”) into his rig. More on this in a future story…”

This Im looking foreward to hearing more about

Maybe it would only update if the track is played for more than 3 minutes? Guess that would go along the lines of a threshold concept.

Well, apart from the two MacBook unibody, the Maschine, the Xone:4D and the Pioneer HDJ-200… Where should I start?

The threashold concept for tracks that are entered in History will be implemented in Traktor v1.2

Whatever Richie used to do this Twittering Is done by his progammer.
It’s NOT a Traktor feature.

Anyway he’s probably just got a guy doing it by regular Twitter
On an iPhone or something.

No dude I mean on the screen . He’s got what looks like a Master Volume display.
This is what Mean about hom having his own programmer.

Maybe NI should hire Richies programmer? =p

Yeah just noticed this myself. Much more suitable than the standard output meter; I find the un-colour-graded blue lines a little unhelpful.

Also, what’s with the dude feeling up Richie’s lovehandles at 0.48?

Does that answer your question?

If you check this vid out, you can see him using the Maschine at a few different points, once to trigger an effect and the other for some sort of weird delay sound. Haven’t a clue really! But watch it anyways, he does an amazing mix of a classic, classic tune!

I love how he looks so calm and relaxed, and yet still tearing those tracks apart. Doesn’t look rushed at all.

Professional in every sense of the word

But some one needs to send him those Play Button stickers so he can cover up the phucking Apple logo already!

_<

+1 , send him one ean, with a link to DJTT

amazing things he’s doin’ there..
and the vid with the two techno gurus on whatver kind of drugs, awesome..

Hey guys,

Go check out these from NI

Im pretty shure that in the first part of the vid. he uses the Maschine to play to clap. And later, yeah he uses it for a delay/masher effect.

But what an amazing vid. Loves (!) the sample from Tainted Love - very creative.

Yeah I have seen these.

I dont think I am ready to rhrow an extra macbook and soundcard into my setup though . Would be amazing though!!

And for the second vid, I think my vci-100 does a better job of controlling traktor than the Maschine can do.

Was Carl Cox Using TSP at this gig? couldn’t tell from the angle but looked like he was squinting at a laptop at some stage

Yeah to be really honest im a bit confused about this whole thread.

There are LOADS of DJs that have gone Digital . I mean LOADS and LOADS and LOADS.

Or have i read the Thread Title incorrectly ? Does the OP mean totally digital like not even using a pen a paper to right things down.

I think what the OP means by the title is, the only big name digital DJ you seem to hear about on the regular is Richie.
This is where I give Richie credit, he actually understands a thing or two about promotion.
