So what does everyone think about this? Instead of getting a set number of uploads per month, it appears as though we can only have up to two hours of music uploaded at a time.
Anyone have thoughts on this? Good? Bad? I’m personally not in favor of it, as I was using it to upload my radio shows every week, each of which run about an hour, so I’m not yet sure how this is going to work out for me.
if that’s the case i am going to have to find a host and store my mixes on there and actually have a proper webpage lol because 2 hours just isnt going to cut it, especially as it’s a nice place to store previous mixes and tunes I am working on.
Well no because i have my mixes on soundcloud and i just copy past to various websites, I suppose for a small fee i could do the same thing on my own blog/website.. have to wait and see Soundcloud is very convenient, i mean even a small fee to leave it as it is wouldn’t bother me.
i have my own site. I am now hosting my mixes there, and i have just linked it to itunes as well so it will be podcasted once uploaded. I used to pay $9.99 per month for a podcasting page… but i did a lot of research as to how i can just upload setsto my website which I already pay alot for, and I moved my podcast over to there. http://lanceblaise.com/podcast
I haven’t put all of my old podcasts up yet, but i will be doing that in a bit.
We got 660 Minutes which is about what we got up there ATM anyway. Will wait and see what happens but SC is only a secondary upload for us , no such limits with House-Mixes. I like it the way it is, tho
damn i would’ve uploaded more mixes had i known they were gonna pull this bullshit.. looks like they gave us as many minutes to host whatever we currently have.
they gave me a “gift” of 300 minutes which is just enough to host the mixes i have right now, but if I want to upload a new mix i’m gonna have to take one down. lamesauce.
Yeah i’ve got 14 hours because i had the maximum number of tracks up there, i’m happy that they’ll drop the last set off if i upload another 1hr40 as it’s over a year old and i rarely do a set a month…
I’ve written to them and complained that whilst the new format definitely favours producers, it’s not doing DJs (and their mixes) any favours.
They should make a new account type for DJs that goes by the old-skool way of how many uploads you have.
Soundcloud are pretty responsive to what their users needs are, I’m sure if enough people write to them with regards to this something will get done about it.
Yeah, what I mean is I have a pro account though (9E/month), and now, instead of being able to upload 10 mixes (however long) a month, I can now only have 12 hours.
with that i think that will be less lame tracks as we will upload our actual best song selection. For a radio show and old mixes that we don’t want feedback anymore we can find a different place for upload and keep the history.
In my oppinion the best thing about soundcloud is the hability to dinamicaly feedback the part of the music that you like it most. For host your old stuff you can find some other place.
