Speakers!!!
what should i get. I’d prefer a smaller speaker than a huge so i can use it in my room and on the go. MY price range is small and it ends aroung $150 bucks.

Speakers for what? Just for your personal use or do you want to play out with it mobile DJ style…if so, $150 isn’t getting it done.
only for personal use.
I still recommend the JBL Control 1 Pro speakers. 150 Watts and they genuinely do 80Hz up to 20KHz like they say on the box. Astonishing sound out of a tiny “bookshelf” speaker.
Search for deals on the street price:
I don’t believe that those are powered, so would need an amp for them.
Studiophile AV 40 are powered desktop speakers that would give you a nice sound at around 150$ … for a lil more i reccomend the Cakewalk MA-15D.
Well you didn’t say. A class T amplifier will give you amazing reproduction for those speakers:

Or for a little more cash:

Regardless, try to get a “power amplifier” rather than a “AV” amp or some black box from your local tronics store.
The Cp2’s are powered. but not at $150… just a bit more
with those av40’s i would be able to monitor with my soundcard and everything right?
Nice topic, nice replies, will definitely keep AV 40s in mind when shopping for monitors. Reviews were all very good (just read a few) and KRK or Genelec might be a nit too expensive for my beginner set-up.
I think the AV 40s would look great next to my S4 ![]()
I’d like to add a question to this:
I’m thinking of buying an HDJ-500, which is around the same price as a set of AV 40s. I’m starting to get into Ableton a bit, so I’ll need a good option for monitoring. Now I have RH-3500 headphones, and a set of logitech 5.1 speakers, which to me both have great sound. The headphones, however, hurt when I wear them too long and I know the logitechs aren’t production worthy.
So, my question is, which should I replace, headphones or speakers?
i am currently using a logitech 5.1 sound system with the logitech converter to make the 5.1 into av … imho i would upgrade the headphones if you already have decent speakers.
Can you elaborate on the converter? Do you maybe have a link for me?
I’ve got the JBL Control 2P’s and i love them.
this is what i have. definatly gets the job done, and really well
tip: if you get these make sure you hit the middle button of the top row, otherwise theres no bass
you can find first generation krk rockit 5’s on guitarcenters used section brand new in box for only $75 each!, just got me a pair. n’ I love 'em!
with tax/ship it was about $200 even.
