I don’t know how he & Chris Liebing play those marathon sets like that. After 2 hours my legs turn to jelly. After 6 I would probably be in a fetal postion.
Yeah the style of music works well with longer sets, but six hours is still six hours.
What’s the problem with a six hour set? Waaaaaayyy more fun than playing a meezly two. Only problem/annoyance for me are the piss breaks (especially if you drink as much beer as I do while spinning).
Agreed, very much enjoy long sets myself, 4-5 hours is perfect as you can really get in to it. I regard the first hour as purely warmup.

used to be normal to play longer than two hours. most top40 DJs in my city still play the entire night (11pm-6am). 6 hours is far from what i would call a “marathon set”.
This. It’s not a marathon until you get to 8 hours.
It’s called ego masturbation and/or “I get paid by the hour”. Show me any good 6 hour set and I will edit it down to a better 2 hour set.
3 hours is the maximum I want to hear any DJ. 1 hour minimum and 2 hours is ideal. That’s my opinion after clubbing since 1988.

I’m not implying that there’s anything wrong with a long set. Quite the opposite. I put this up more in admiration. The longest I’ve played personally is 4 hours and that was New Years Eve at my own house haha.
IF Jochem (Speedy J) gets paid by hour and, in your opinion, it is called ego masturbation, why does he DJ a little longer than usual, like a lot? There are a lot of gigs where he just plays till 6 for example, but since everyone is enjoying him he goes on till 8. And do you have any idea what Speedy J means to the techno community and likewise to the music community?! Well, I don’t think I have to explain to you, given your history of clubbing (no offense, just being serious here).
I’ve heard him play a 9 hour set with the first two hours full of ambient music and that my friend, was a experience I’ll never ever experience again.
What I’m trying to say is, sometimes a really long set is good. But the music must be suitable. Techno is suitable. And Speedy J is not moneygrabbing, he does this for a living. He has a wife and two kids. So I say it’s fair that he gets paid by the hour.
I am glad you agree. I wouldn’t ever want to experience that again either.
How did you not leave? My time is valuable. You waste my time for 2 hours I am irate. No way I am giving you the respect of staying for your set when you disrespect my time.
Jesus, if you are worried about personal productivity and time utilisation while at a techno club I think you are doing it wrong

Because loverocket is a troll. He can find something negative to say about almost any thread. It’s all good, though, opposing opinions are what keeps the conversations going, right? 
Personally, I prefer about a 4 hour set, the longest I’ve done is about 10. Killed my back!
6hours isn’t that long to be honest, danny tenaglia does marathon sets at stereo for 12ish hours. Loco dice just did a set recently for 16hours at space too…
Being informed keeps conversations going. From what I’ve seen on here Loverocket is far from informed on anything dj or music related and appears to simply be a noob trying to pose as someone with experience.
Based on the rest of that post I highly doubt this would be the case.
