Spilled Beer
Ugh my own fault. Dropped a beer right out of my hand into the cross fader. Dried it up that night. The crossfader has been rather glitchy. It bounces back and forth. If I blow into it it does work for a little. Been about 3 weeks since I did this. Any tips?
eletronics wash and lube…i got mine from home depot…
Yikes, 3 weeks is a lot of time for beer (or any sticky liquid) spill.
Your best easy option is to use lot of Deoxit D5, flush it, redo it again at least 5-6 times. Use a vacuum cleaner to dry it and grab some crap inside the fader too.
If you have some electronic skills, desolder the fader, open it completely, clean everything with Deoxit d5 and Isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, add some fader grease, close the fader, resolder it, and cross your finger. Beer may have screwed up the resistive carbon bad time. Still not work properly? well change the cross fader.
good luck
at the end of the day, you can always swap the fader out if nothing else works (provided that was all you hit with the spillage.)
Another solution: Drink more beer and you’ll forget you even had a problem
