So i’m sure there’s been loads of these threads but I was wondering what you guys suggest I should get to help me with producing. As of now I have FL Studios 9 that I’ve had for over a year and lately have been trying to understand it more and more. My main problem is being able to put the idea I have for melodies into the program and producing the proper sound. I’m looking to spend about 400$ so could you guys help me out? thanks

If you plan on performing/remixing live, Ableton’s definitely the way to go. Otherwise, I’ve heard plenty of great things about Reason and Cubase.

If your looking at producing sounds specifically Reason is the way to go. they have a very intuitive synth system that lets you create sounds just like that. the possibilites are only limited by your imagination and no im being serious

ive heard amazing things of fl studio seeing the plethora of people who use it sucessfully. what synths ya got?

Just all of the ones that come with it when you buy it, I am very new to music production and have watched countless hours of the tutorial videos which have helped with other aspects of producing, but I still can’t pull it all together.

Take piano lessons

I don’t really plan on using the program to perform. When I mix I use traktor. more specifically just for making music.

Do you guys think I should look into getting a midi keyboard???

Do you know how to play the keys? If not then I wouldn’t really sweat it too much. Your QWERTY keyboard would work fine as a mock keyboard. But if you do have experience in playing the keys then go for it

No I don’t no how to play the keys, I was going to have a friend who’s been playing piano for some time now instruct me how, but if it isn’t a necessity then I’ll over look it.
