Thought I’d best ask here first before getting into a flap.
The left hand platter on my VCI 100 SE has stopped responding to and movement - it’ll still stop a track when touched but moving it doesn’t do anything.
I don’t mess around with the mapping file that’s provided by DJTechtools, and I’ve not done anything that I can think of to cause this behaviour. I’ve opened the case in the past to put in a Pro X Fade and to upgrade to FW1.4, but everything worked perfectly well after these operations.
you can also test the harware itself in the vci LED test mode.
I think you press deck B echo and play buttons while turning the unit on (might be the wrong button combo), then hit all the buttons as the LEDs light up in order. It’s a bit tedious, but once you’ve done every button you enter fader test mode where the bottom 8 LEDs indicate the position of the faders, starting with the x fader.
Again this is just from memory, but I think if you press the deck A slice button quite a few times to cycle through all the faders you’ll eventually get to the jog wheel test mode (it’s the very last one so thankfully you can’t miss it by pressing the button too many times). The bottom 8 LEDs now light up in sequence as you move the jog wheels, one colour for each wheel.
Oh, ta. Might be gunk in the way of the optical sensor
Doubt its this tbh - the system has been unplugged, replugged and rebooted several times since I first spotted this.
Thanks anywho
If the worst comes to it, any one know of somewhere that’ll sevice it in the UK, or do DJTechTools provide an equivalent service (if they do it’ll be annoying as my wife flew into San Francisco on Saturday, and is current in Orange Country, so she could’ve taken it with her …)
Just opened it up, tightened all the screws up around the platters (actually needed to go one further than photojojo’s video suggested to get at another set of screws which were loose) then spotted the little bugger causing the issue
A wire has been pinched in the case last time I opened her up, and it’s broken. Just need to get out the soldering iron and we should be good
