About a couple of weeks ago while doing my laundry I walk by the local health food store and I hear music thought it was a jukebox. I look up theres a guy on Serato spinning Madonna lol not what I’d expect a DJ to be playing in my hood for sure. I walk by the heath food store yesterday and he’s back I guess hes got a residency there now. I think a health food store is the strangest place and I’ve seen DJ’s in barber shops and clothing stores too wheres the strangest place you seen a DJ.
Have a guy who brings a lighting rig, speakers, laptop, and controller and sets up on the boardwalk near me during the Summer. Not sure if he gets paid, or just shows up and plugs in. Amazing soulful house music all night long.
Outside of that, a salon near my old office in SoHo had 1200’s set up in the window. Was tempted to stop in to test out my new stash from Satellite a few times.
I just recently DJed from a balcony in the great hall of an 11th century castle in the west of England. I thought it was going to sound awful because of all the stone and marble reflecting all the sound but there was enough damping on the walls in the form of old paintings and tapestries that it actually sounded alright.
I am also due to DJ later this year from the pulpit of an old 12th century church in London. The acoustics there might be troublesome too.
