Studio Monitors

Was going to buy a pair of Studio monitors but my brother gave his pair of Definitive Technology 800 ProMonitor Speakers. Though technically they are categorized as cinema (home theater) style monitors I compared it with definitive tech’s studio monitor 45. Not much difference to my knowledge. But anything else who has more knowledge in this … can you please shed some light

The dimensions are different, the studio monitors have a larger woofer, the studio monitors have a wider range of frequency response, and the speaker enclosure materials are different.

The frequency range among many other things you mentioned is the same the reps at guitar center told me. Plus the monitors would not work without an amp unlike the studio monitors which has power amp built in.
