Studio Subwoofer

Studio Subwoofer

I just ordered an HS10W yamaha sub to go with my HS80M’s. Right now I have the HS80’s on two shelves on a desk, so I’m wondering where the place to put the subwoofer would be.

The floor in the room is carpeted so would the floor right next to the desk be a good spot? I’m thinking that way I wouldn’t need an isolation riser or something, otherwise I could put it on the bottom/floor platform of the desk with an isolation riser, but I’m afraid it may still cause some vibrations etc there.

Thanks for any tips

Also, to connect from the sub to the speakers should I go with XLR to TSR (balanced) cables or XLR to XLR

Installing a sub can be quite challenging and the only way to really know whether it is well set up is to do a room response measurement.

You might wish to try Room EQ Wizard.

Avoid placing it near things that may sympathetically vibrate/

Have fun !
